What your registered agent does in your first year
Your registered agent receives legal and state notices for your company in your formation state. It's included for your first year, and its official mail shows in Documents.
A registered agent accepts legal papers for your company. Every company needs one, and ours is included with Formation for your first year, at no extra charge.
What it does
- Receives legal and state notices for your company in the state you form in.
- Gives your company its official address in that state.
- Official mail sent to it is scanned and appears in Documents.
There's nothing for you to set up.
Where to see it
- On Home, the Registered agent track shows Active once the state approves your filing. Before that, it reads "Named on the state filing. Active once the state approves it."
- On Company, the Addresses tab shows your registered agent with Active or Being appointed.
Using its address for your company
When you add your company details, you can choose Use the registered agent's address as your company address. You don't need a US address. It is for official mail only. It isn't a mail-forwarding service or a place for packages.
After your first year
